H&R BLOCK PARTNERSHIP
Since 2009, H&R Block has partnered with United Way to provide free tax services to anyone with an annual income of $66,000 or less. Besides being a free tax site with mobile access from any smart phone, tablet, or computer, MyFreeTaxes.com also provides users with a simple way to upload information and complete their taxes in under an hour on average.
COMMUNITY ACTION DULUTH
For people who would rather receive assistance face-to-face, there is Community Action Duluth. Their free tax services are offered to anyone with an annual income of $56,000 or less. IRS-certified volunteers are available for walk-ins several days of the week. Just last year, they helped 1,320 families claim $2.3 million in refunds. For more information click here.
NORTHWEST WISCONSIN COMMUNITY SERVICES AGENCY, INC.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a free, IRS-sponsored program to help low- and middle-income people have their federal and state personal income taxes prepared and filed electronically at no cost to the taxpayer. The program serves households and individuals with incomes up to $64,000 and runs year around. To schedule an appointment, call your nearest office in Ashland at 715-292-6400 ext. 1 or in Superior at 715-392-5127.
Site is opening January 22, 2024 in Ashland for accepting folders. The Ashland site will be doing both drop off/pick up and in-person appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Superior will be opening on February 5, 2024, to begin processing your return using the drop off/pick up method. New this year. The Lew Martin Senior Center Computer Lab will be available to use to file your state, federal, or homestead taxes. If you have an income of less than $78,000, come use our computers Monday – Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. Free printing of your tax return on site. Any computer issues will be handled on site with any tax related questions being answered by email or phone by an IRS certified tax preparer. Want more information?
