Stuff the Bus

Stuff the Bus is a school readiness program that provides backpacks, school supplies and other items to prepare low-income students for the first day of school and to ensure their preparedness throughout the school year.

Head of Lakes United Way asks individuals, employee groups, and service organizations to fight for kids! Please collect new school supplies for students so that all students feel prepared for school. All of the supplies will be delivered directly to the school district and distributed by them.

Check back in the late summer to learn more.

Chili Cook-Off

One day over twenty five years ago some United Way volunteers thought it would be fun to have a community chili cook-off. They were right! Each September the tradition lives on. Chili chefs – both professional and amateur  – cook up their favorite recipes and decorate their booths. The rest of us get to sample it and vote on our favorite while having a great time at this family-friendly community event. Check back each September to learn how you can enter a chili or join us for the fun!

Bike Swap

The Bike Swap is a chance for the community to sell, buy, and get excited to get out on their bikes! Our friends at Continental Ski & Bike host this fantastic event that offers the community to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle. There are always bikes of all sizes and styles here, so come check it out on Earth Day weekend!

Day of Caring

A Day to Show You Care

Head of the Lakes United Way’s Day of Caring matches teams of community-minded volunteers with local non-profit agencies in need of extra hands. Volunteers can make a real difference by tackling agency projects such as painting, planning activities for kids, collecting supplies, landscaping, light maintenance and many other opportunities. Check back each spring to participate!
