OUR MISSION AND VISION

Our mission is to strengthen our communities by uniting people and resources. We are striving to improve the health, education, and financial stability of EVERY person in EVERY community we serve.

REACH AND AREA

Head of the Lakes United Way proudly serves Ashland and Bayfield Counties, Greater Duluth,
Lake and Cook Counties and Superior-Douglas County.

ANTI-RACISM STATEMENT

We recognize that systemic racism, unjust policies and practices in our institutions, and other forms of oppression have and continue to disempower entire populations of people. While racism and prejudice are not always conscious, their consequences are always dehumanizing.

We acknowledge that racism and discrimination still exist. These views have no place in our society or organization and hinder our ability to create a community where all people can thrive.

We strive to challenge and correct these biases and inequalities to ensure that those whose voices have been silenced are heard. We accept responsibility to encourage opportunities for anti-racism education and awareness with our partners and within our communities. We look forward to continuously and intentionally working towards building and sustaining equality for EVERY person in EVERY community.

DEI STATEMENT

We recognize that diversity and inclusion will not be sustained unless we promote and encourage new ways of problem-solving and diversity of thought.

We believe that all people belong and deserve fairness, justice, and inclusivity and will choose to celebrate the visible and invisible qualities that make each person unique, including race, gender, age, sexuality, ability, religion, national origin, gender identity, and other identities.

We vow to purposefully identify, discuss, and challenge all factors of inequity and the impact(s) they have. We strive to include diversity, equity, and inclusion practices at the center of our daily work; and will advocate for diverse, equitable, and inclusive solutions that unite our community, providing EVERY person in EVERY community the freedom to rise.
