United Way’s Day of Caring – making a difference in our local community!
Each year in June and December, Head of the Lakes United Way’s Day of Caring matches teams of community-minded volunteers with local non-profit agencies in need of extra hands. Volunteers can make a real difference by tackling agency projects such as painting, planning activities for kids, collecting supplies, landscaping, light maintenance, and many other opportunities.
Historically, this single-day event is a concentrated push to disseminate volunteers across the region, highlighting the need for more volunteerism in our communities. That need is certainly not decreased during this unprecedented time. Even when we can’t be together in person, we can still LIVE UNITED through volunteerism.
To get virtual volunteers started, we have compiled a list of 8 ways for individuals, families, small groups, or workplaces to take part in our virtual Day of Caring. On Wednesday, June 17, 2020 we are asking the community to participate and share photos and stories on social media using the hashtag #DayofCaring2020.
